SYNOPSIS

Thomas Samuels, the idealist owner of a left-leaning radical café/bookstore and the quixotic author of a hard-hitting 9/11 conspiracy expose, finds himself entangled with a mysterious eastern European beauty, Kasia, who is on the run from the architects of a global 9/11 cover-up, in this contemporary take on classic film noir. When Thomas is implicated in the murder of his friend and employee, he’s forced to unravel Kasia’s complex web of lies while attempting to fight his natural attraction to her. As it turns out, Kasia possesses the last remaining evidence necessary to prove the identities, methods, and motivations of the conspirators responsible for the tragic events of 9/11, and Thomas is willing to die to expose the truth.

DIRECTORS BIO

Dave Herman earned a BA in philosophy from Oberlin College and an MA in philosophy from the University of Illinois, with highest marks. There he studied under the chairman of the North American Nietzsche Society. After earning his degrees, Dave traveled the United States for a year and lived in Hamburg, Germany for more than a year, where he began writing screenplays and worked for German television on a ‘movie news’ program. Before leaving Germany, he met and married his wife Martina, and moved with her to Los Angeles in 1994.

In LA, Dave quickly discovered that shopping screenplays and living the life of a writer was a bit too isolated for his taste and decided to learn about filmmaking. His film school was the ‘school of hard knocks’ -- He began working in production on independent films and then ultimately worked as production manager for commercials at a number of high-end commercial production companies including Headquarters, The End, Propaganda, Power films, Oil Factory, Bedford Falls, and many more. During this time he conceptualized and directed a number of music videos and commercials on spec.

Exasperated at the lack of editorial talent he could find who would work for nothing, Dave spent his nights learning how to edit and edited his reel himself. After making a round of the high-end production companies in LA and, to his surprise, not being hired immediately as a director, Dave changed the label on his reel to ‘Editor’. Editorial work came quickly and he soon took a job at TBWA Chiat/Day when they opened their new office in San Francisco in 1999. There, he worked with some of the best advertising creatives in the country and did award-winning work for Levi’s, Pets.com, the Gameshow Network, Onhealth.com and more.

Dave currently edits national commercials for Version 2 Editorial in New York City. His recent clients include, Puma, Stella Artois, Verizon, Colgate, Arby’s, Mercedes, Tylenol, and more. He lives with his wife and two sons in Brooklyn, NY. In his free time he coaches soccer and lacrosse for the neighborhood athletic league he helped start.
